Friends Book Cellar Material Donations
Material donations are the backbone of the Friends Book Cellar! Much of our stock is made up of books, media, and other items donated by members of the community! Donating your items to the Friends Book Cellar allows us to offer them for sale to the community, providing monetary support for the Lexington Public Library and putting items in the hands of those who can use them. Thank you for your donation!
Every donation of materials helps us further our goal of supporting the library. Please read the information below to learn about the donation process and avoid confusion.
How to Donate:
If you require assistance unloading your donation from your vehicle, please first observe our donation hours and then call us at (859) 231-5505 when you are in the donation pickup location, giving us a description of your vehicle, your donation, and whether or not you would like a tax receipt. We will ask some questions to confirm that your donation is in good condition.
For donation pickups, please pull into the breezeway (covered driveway next to the Lexington Public Library). The breezeway is located off of Main Street: look for the sign that says “Lexington Public Library Public Parking”. Drive past the Helix parking structure; do not enter it—this is not us! If you see Phoenix Park or reach the corner of Main Street and Limestone Street, then you have gone too far.

After entering the breezeway, pull along the right side of the road, next to the sidewalk (there should be a yellow “curbside pickup” sign) or in front of the large garage doors. A volunteer or staff member will come out to help you unload your donation.
Other Ways to Donate:
If you do not require unloading assistance, you can bring your donation to the Friends Book Cellar any time during daily operating hours.
For very large donations, we can come to you! If you require this service, please click the “Schedule a Donation Pickup!” link below for more information and to schedule loading and pickup of your donation.
